Visual Identity Question

Submitted by LazerBacon on Thu, 2006-01-26 04:04. ::

I read all the visual identity guidelines provided by Mozilla and it appears they are not feasible in all aspects for wallpaper work.

For example if you super-impose the logo into an object that is considered a violation of there guidelines for placement and or layout.

I am wondering if maybe you just need at-least "one" instance of the logo that meets all the requirements and the rest are just for artwork purposes and not subject to the requirements.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

~Jason

Selection criteria

Submitted by on Fri, 2006-01-20 22:00. ::

The selection of the wallpapers for the judge's choice would be based on the following criteria:
Firefox/Thunderbird category
  • 40% Creativity/Novelty - it's important that it doesn't look like every other wallpaper and that it shows some thought in the design.
  • 30% Production Quality - it's important that the artwork is well produced with high-quality tools, etc.
  • 20% Adherence to the visual identity guidelines.
  • 10% Download Size* - balancing size and intricacy of design is often challenging and is a sign of care in development.

OpenOffice.org category
  • 50% Creativity/Novelty - it's important that it doesn't look like every other wallpaper and that it shows some thought in the design.
  • 40% Production Quality - it's important that the artwork is well produced with high-quality tools, etc.
  • 10% Download Size* - balancing size and intricacy of design is often challenging and is a sign of care in development.
Legal info on OpenOffice.org:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/OOoArt--OOo_logo_license
http://www.openoffice.org/about_us/summary.html

In short, use the name 'OpenOffice.org' and not 'OpenOffice' or 'Open Office'; and do not try to modify the logo so much that no-one can recognise it.

* This should not discourage you from submitting higher resolution wallpapers. Wallpaper resolution will be taken into account when considering download size. (i.e. whether you submit 800x600 wallpaper or 1600x1200 version of that wallpaper, it does not affect the judgement).

Update: Sorry for not updating the site for some time...I've got the results for Firefox/Thunderbird category but am still waiting for results for OpenSourcePal.org category.
